Once we’d realised the name Stubborn Mule Brewery wasn’t taken the idea to create a range of characterised beers followed pretty quickly.
A few places do it. La Chouffe for one have been doing it since the 70s. We thought we’d try it on some modern beers in Manchester. Everyone knows a stubborn mule so why not bring a few to life over a pint or two.
The only question was to find one that’d represent the attitude and outlook of our brewery: Independent, serious about what we’re doing, just as serious about having some fun with the whole thing.
It didn’t take long for us to realise we’d need to get someone who could draw involved…
Dying Mule Brewery. Not a good look.
Buckaroo Brewery. Nope.
Wonky Donkey Brewery – at least this one looks like he’d had a few beers.
We were getting closer but Angry/Chilled Mule Brewery just didn’t have the right ring.
Finally with a big thanks to Ste at Designers Up North we nailed it.
We’re not planning on stopping there. Expect to see some of this lot staring back at you over a bar in the not too distant future.
